FAQs

We have answers to some common questions below, related to our products and service.

Monitoring Service

+ Who will you call if I need help?

When we set up your account, we ask for a list of Emergency Contacts who will be able to assist if you require. When responding to an alert, we then contact those Emergency Contacts in the order they were nominated.

+ What will you do if you can't hear me?

We will assume you need assistance and get in touch with your nominated Emergency Contacts to assist.

+ What happens if I fall outside?

If able, you can still press your pendant and the signal should reach the alarm (we also have automatic fall detectors available to purchase). While we may not be able to hear you, will will assume you need assistance and get in touch with your nominated Emergency Contacts to assist.

+ What should I do if I move or I am away temporarily?

Please advise us if you do plan to relocate, or will be away from home for any length of time. To get in touch and let us know, you can simply use our Contact page.

 Medical Alarms

+ Are Tunstall medical alarms compatible with the NBN?

The current range of Tunstall medical alarms each have a SIM card and operate over the mobile network, so they can operate independently from any landline or NBN connection.

+ How long do I have to press my pendant for?

To activate your alarm, you only need to press your pendant once, firmly for approximately one second. Once the alarm has been activated, it will acknowledge this through an annoucement or other feedback - depending on your alarm model type.

+ How far away will the pendant work?

The range of our medical alarm pendants can vary depending on physical and environmental factors, but typically will work within at least 50m of the base medical alarm.

At the time of installation, we would also ask that the pendant is tested at various points in and around the home, to ensure the alarm can always be activated.

+ Is the pendant waterproof?

All medical alarm pendants supplied by Tunstall are at least IP67 rated - meaning that it can be submerged in 1m of water for 30 minutes. This means that Tunstall medical alarm pendants are safe to wear in the shower, but should avoid being worn in the bath or while swimming.

Mobile Alarms

+ How often should I charge my mobile alarm?

While overall battery life depends on the specific device, we typically recommend that you recharge your mobile alarm each evening, especially after the device has been activated.

+ Will my mobile alarm work inside a building?

Your mobile alarm may work inside, however these kind of devices are not designed to be used inside as they rely on both mobile signals and GPS satellites to identify the users location, both of which can be impacted by physcial environments.

+ How can you locate me when I activate my mobile alarm?

Almost all mobile alarms use some kind of GPS location technology to identify the user's location. This is acheived by triangulating the device's position between three or more GPS satellites.

Some mobile alarms will 'ping' the GPS satellites at set intervals to identify user possiitons over time, others will only attempt to locate the device once it is activated.
